"Crime Story" Dirk Wong's "Crime Story" starring Jackie Chan isan action thriller which concerns a stressed out coptrying to recover a rich businessman who has beentaken hostage. This is unlike other Jackie moviesas it is void of any humor .The action scenes are very well staged but there are only a few in the whole film .Although I did enjoy this film I thinkmost Jackie Chan fans will be disappointed with the lack of fight scenes .Jackie does quite well with the serious role and I was surprised how well the story was developed .This is actually among my favourite Jackie Chan Movies and it's a good change from his usual slapstick kung fu films. |
"Police Story" (1986)
Jackie Chans "Police Story" is one of the most ground-breaking actioners from Hong Kong . From start to finish the film is full of brillient fight scenes and breath taking stunts .The film tells the stoy of a cop trying to bring down a crime boss but the plot doesnt mean much when scenes such as the shopping mall fight will blow you away. Jackie made this film after finishing the unsuccessfull American movie "The Protector". Jackie was unsatisfied with the films direction so he decided to make his own cop movie and when it was completed "Police Story" became one of the biggest hits ever to come out of Hong kong .I highly recomend this movie to any action fans and I believe this is Jackie Chans best film. "Gorgeous" "Gorgeous" is Jackie Chans attempt at a romantic comedy. From start to finish I was waiting for a fantastic stunt or a brilliantly choreographed fight scene but the film never delivered. The film's story line is realy poor and all the moments in the film that are suposed to be funny are very corny. The whole movie is full of cheesy moments and the dubbing although not the worst I have ever seen is very annoing. The action isn't very good except for the fight scene around the motor bike useing several baseball bats which was pretty good. This was a very disappointing film for me and I recomend that you steer clear from it and see one of Jackie's better movies. |
